PHARMACOKINETICS
In order to compare the pharmacokinetics of single doses of hydrocodone with those of biphasic immediate-release (IR/ER) hydrocodone and acetaminophen, this study set out to evaluate the pharmacokinetics of hydrocodone 750 mg in healthy volunteers. 60 healthy persons participated in the study, which was carried out in a contract research facility.
The authors of the study report updated data on the safety and efficacy of hydrocodone. They conducted independent, blinded, and independent bibliographic searches of peer-reviewed literature from 1990 to 2018. The authors conclude that abuse-deterrent extended-release formulations of hydrocodone are effective and well-tolerated, and have similar pharmacokinetic profiles to other opioid analgesics.
SAFETY
Hydrocodone is an opioid painkiller. This drug has a wide range of potential side effects. It can cause liver damage and increased pressure in the brain. It can also cause breathing problems. It is important to consult a doctor for medical advice if you experience these side effects. Hydrocodone is also dangerous if it is taken by people with certain health conditions or while taking other medications.
It may cause withdrawal symptoms in newborn infants and is particularly dangerous if used long-term during pregnancy. Hydrocodone and acetaminophen are broken down in the liver, and certain drugs can interfere with this process, leading to buildup of the drug. The drug may also affect the baby’s breathing, which is dangerous for an infant.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Hydrocodone is a commonly prescribed pain reliever. It is listed as a Class A drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. It is not available in a pure form and is usually paired with an NSAID. Therefore, it is important to discuss any potential drug interactions with your healthcare provider.
Some potential drug interactions with hydrocodone include increased blood pressure and sedation. It can also cause breathing problems. If you experience any of these effects, it’s best to seek emergency medical attention.
